Thank you for relating this, I have been advising for years that other than opening up the exhaust the next best place to spend money is on a tune/tuner.

However there is this persistent belief that otherwise stock Mustangs will not benefit from a tune, most often expressed as "at your level of mods you don't need a tune" which is a complete crock. The stock tune is so awful that even the most generic aftermarket "87 octane" tune is a significant improvement.

Same here I noticed a big difference after I loaded a custom tune with my SCT.Of coarse I went from a stock GT tune to a cobra tune after my 4v swap.Glad you're happy with it.Car looks great IMO but I might be a little biased toward red sn95's.LOL

Glad to hear that you're happy! Let us know if there's anything else that Bama can do for you!

cliffyk, you're exactly right. There are many things in the stock tune that we improve upon, more than just WOT horsepower and torque. These things get overlooked by the average person.

Biggest gains for guys with auto trans though.
Guys with access to 93oct fuel also get better gains.

I couldn't feel any difference when I got my 93oct tune, but I'm sure there was some small degree of improvement. The tuner is neccessary if you do mods that require custom tuning, or if you swap gears.

If you felt no difference going from the OEM to a premium fuel optimised tune then it was not a very good tune.

I have flashed what has become my basic tune to at lest 1/2 dozen dead stock new-edge GTs (5-speed's all) and never once had an owner come back from their first drive without a grin...
