2002 mustang gt convertible tint question
Alright I haven't tinted my gt convertible because everybody that I know their tint peels off on convertible and I don't want that so I haven't messed with it but today a guy that does tint and other stuff at the dealer I work at tinted a white truck and it looked good and I asked him about mine and he says he would charge like $110 to tint my mustang and they use 3m tint and has lifetime warranty against peeling or anything else that may go wrong. Good deal? And legal tint in ohio is 20% which they put on the truck but they said they can go as dark as I like. So any recommendations to %? I like it dark but not sure how dark so any ideas would be great! Thanks guys!

20% legal? When I researched a couple fo years ago in Ohio, it was 50% on the sides, and as dark as you want on the rear and rear quarters as long as you have mirrors.
BTW, I had 45 on my sides, and 20 on the rears of my old Accord and I thought it looked pretty damn good. 50 is pretty hard to find. But I do agree, that to me it's not worth getting pulled over for.
Where did you find this info?

I'm in Florida and have had my convertible windows tinted almost since day 1 (7+ years ago) with no problems... Just have to use good film (which 3M should be).
According to this web site:
http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/OH/
the poster above is correct about the tint law... in fact you can even do the windshield which you cant do in Florida... but you also have to have a sticker between the film and the window certifying the tint (?).
I'm guessing the $110 is for the 4 side windows and the rear? If so, that is a very good price for around here.... and I'm sure there too.

I was quoted $120 to do mine. It would have been cheaper but they have to use a special process to remove the rear tint because of the heating elements. But does yours already have tint?
Regardless, mine are dark as hell. It was like that when I bought it, and to be honest it took some real getting used to. Late at night or in early mornings the side view is practically non-existent and completely black. To see house numbers at night I have to roll the windows down. Night traffic is easy to see because of headlights, but I may run over a pedestrian some day.
Just something to consider. If 50% is legal in ohio, then I say do that and keep proof in you glove compartment.
