Default AM smoked headlights with clear corners

I've been on the fence about these for a while now. My main question/concern is that from what i've seen and heard, the darkness seems to vary a bit. The info i'm getting now is that the recent ones coming from AM are quite a bit darker than they used to be. Can anyone confirm this? If so does anyone know where i could get some that aren't so dark? I really just want something a little darker than the OEM smoked, but with clear corners. I know a lot of you guys have got them off ebay, but i'd like to stay away from that, and go with a reputable vendor.

Thanks

Nobody??? Seems like these are pretty popular...especially on the new edge body style.

I think the reason you aren't getting any answers is because most of us who have them (myself included) have only bought one pair, so we have no way to compare if they are lighter or darker.

I got mine close to two years ago and they are pretty dark.

Yeah maybe your right. I think i'll send a PM to AM on here, and see what they have to say. I called them several days ago, and the guy on the phone wasn't too informative.

Agree with 2k1gt. I have the dark smoked/clear corners from AM, but I have no idea how they compare to earlier units. Mine are pretty dark also. I bought them around 6 months ago.

Thanks Dreamer! The lighter smoked ones from Stangmods are more along the lines of what i'm looking for. I just called them and the guy on the phone said that the lighter smoked ones (still with clear corners) are more like the older ones from AM. Darker than OEM, but lighter than the newer ones from AM. Apparently most vendors get all their stuff from the same overseas supplier, and not too long ago the darker ones were coming in way more dark than they had in the past. He said a lot of customers weren't happy with the newer/darker look, which is why they offer two versions.

So i'm pretty sure the ones from Stangmods will fit the bill for me.

Thanks guys!

I loved the way my smoked headlights looked... but I couldn't see anything with them. Unless I was in a very well light area in town, I was pretty much going by the feel of things, because seeing was out the door....

I will never do smoked headlights again. At best, I would black out the housing and retro-fit a set of HIDs.
