Powder coating my brakes
Like the title says, I'm going to powder coat my brakes today and tomorrow. Is there anything I should know before I start? It's a project that I'm kinda winging it with my gf's step dad. He's pretty handy with tools, right now he's building a 63 vette. I'll sandblast my calipers first. When I put the calipers in the oven is there anything I need to worry about?Do I need to disassemble the caliper or is there anything I need to take off? Lmk guys.

Gotta disassemble the entire caliper and rebuild it when youre done with the powdercoating process. I wanted to do this with my calipers but when I heard you have to disassemble it and then rebuild it when it was done I didnt feel like doing it. Thats why my car has red brake calipers on a blue car. lol

****!! That's not what I wanted to hear. Thanks though for letting me know. I'm glad I didnt start yet, I would have made a big mistake and then would need to buy a whole new brake set up
Now what would the purpose be to disassemble the caliper? Could the piston not handle the 350* of the oven?
I would think the seals would melt.
Yea, all the seals and rubber would melt.
thanks guys. Time to figure out if I really want to do this, ugh
the rebuild kits arent that expensive. But its just having to do it is what sucks. I'd just spray them personally.
^ Thats what I'm leaning towards

Rebuilding my calipers are the only reason why I never powder coated my calipers. I just sprayed them and they look fine.
