Default Thinking about going to the track this weekend...

So alot of my buddies run their cars at the strip(05 gt, 05srt4, a 2010 WRX W/25ish psi,), I've gone, I've watched, I've wanted to run, but just havent pulled the trigger.. I'm worried I'll be very....very dissappointed in my times. All I have is a K&N drop in, 91 tune via a hypertech, and 3.73s. I'd be on my 275/45/17 street tires, and I just lowered my car W/ H&R SS's so I know my 60' times will be atrocious... Not to mention I'm a stock stall auto.

Firebird is 1,243 elevation...

If I drop my tire pressure a bit, pull of my front sway bar, and take out my spare, and jack, you think I could cut a 14.4? I hate to even think of only running a 14. ha.

Seeing how it would be your first time I would say you probably won't run faster than 14.4 -- The car is capable of running that time though

I understand your concerns, but remember that all of those guys had their first time at the track too. It is RARE for a guy to run good times his first time out.

Relax and enjoy the experience!
You are likely to run mid 14's your first time out, but don't sweat it if you do worse this time out. JUST HAVE SOME FUN!!!

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Yea, I want to have fun, but it will be hard when everyone else can cut 1.6 60's and run 12's... and im about 2 entire seconds slower. I just dont want to be a goon out there I guess. How much of a difference would it make if I coaxed my uncle into letting me borrow the rear wheels of his cobra, They are 18x10 saleens, but have 305/35/18 555r's, would the extra weight not be worth the use of some DRs? They are pretty used up, but I believe they have enough for a few passes.

Just go out and see what you can do with your current setup. Yes, your car is slow but not everyone runs 12s their first time out. You need a baseline before you install the Vortech.

Yea, I still have to buy the vortech, being 17, and making 8.60 an hour makes things like this take FOREVER. I'll see what I run I guess.

I live in phoenix, I haven't beet to firebird, but When I went to speed way I did my first ever runs and it was a blast. Go do it for the fun. Dont worry about the time. go make a few passes and its a baseline for the future. My car is 100% stock even using a paper filter.

The biggest thing you need is practice before trying to run once you start making more power and doing other things to your car. To many clowns spend all this money to make their car badazz and can't drive for crap and look even more retarded than running slow.
