Time for new brakes, have questions
#11
I went ahead and got them ordered. Came to $271.66 including some pretty badass pads, they're the same ones we sell to the state for use on Police cars as well as people who do a lot of heavy towing and other stressful stuff. Again I must ask if the banjo bolt is going to be a problem or not. There are some threads where people were saying it's a different thread pitch and other that say they swap straight over, would be handy to know if I need to find some new bolts or not before it all gets here.
Where's a good place to find this DOT 5.1 brake fluid? We've got some premium heavy duty DOT 4 but the DOT 5.1 sounds like it's worth the upgrade.

If you are considering upgrading to Mach 1 or Cobra brakes out back, I recommend you don't bother. They are of VERY little upgrade and you will not notice a difference. They WILL be a bit better, due to mechanical advantage of larger rotor, but I had initially done such a swap and was not impressed beyond a nicer look behind the wheels.

Thanks for all the help, Jazzer! In my reading on brakes I saw that the rears didn't yield much advantage (though they are larger and vented). I'm ****/obsessive enough that I may eventually put Cobra brakes on the rear so I don't have massive brakes up front and little bottle caps in the rear but the pads I put on them have a lifetime warranty including wear so I'm not in any hurry. Some say it's really easy, others say you have to pull the axles and all this other nonsense. Sounds like even more confusion that I don't feel like dealing with right now.
Any clarification on the Banjo bolts?

Yes... you would have to pull the axles to install a set of Cobra rears and the kit comes with a new set of banjo bolts, at least mine did. I don't know if you can use your existing ones, because I never tried.
Seems to me the banjo bolt is longer because it is in a bit different location than existing, not sure as it was about 4 years ago.
Jazzer says your welcome

The banjo bolts in mine were a different thread pitch. I had to get banjo bolts for a 03-04 cobra, and used my factory lines.
I'm running hawk ceremics with powerslots in the front, and hawk performance brake pads in the rear on stock rotors with dot 4 fluid. My brakes easily stop much shorter than factory brakes do.
I can get the wheels to lock before the ABS picks it up.. lol
