Default POP goes the tranny

Well. I was on my way to race mrtstang, and before that did a quick run against my buddies cobra. At about 110mph, top of third, I got a loud BANG!! Just got the car home and the parts that are broken off include the ujoint, entire rear housing section, and rear half of the output shaft. Not sure what the heck caused it. One of the caps from the ujoint is embedded in the floor, and looks like it almost made it thru and woulda came close to hitting my buddies leg. So, now time to find a trans. I'll have pics up later.

yeah a 4r70 will be going back in. I'm assuming one of the retaining clips for the ujoint came out(even tho i checked them all after putting the ujoints in to make sure they were in their slots). that resulted the one cap to fly out and hit the floor board, then that broke and I dunno why the output shaft broke unless the yoke/driveshaft bound up and snapped it or if the driveshaft broke free and came back and smacked into the trans.

You still had a "clunk" that you never addressed before racing, correct?

I'd give Darrin a call at BC Automotive for a 4r75w.
