How would buying new tires make your trans shift correctly?

With an auto if your tires just spin and you don't get any traction then the car wont shift. My previous v6 mustang that was an auto would do that in the snow.

Exactly

Hey guys my transmission revs all the way to 7100 rpm when the rev limiter is set at 6400. Do you think new tires would help?

Come on...really.

Like said before something in the tune is more than likely causing your issues. If not I think you have to check out the condition of the trans and converter, not your tires.

Well lets put it this way. When launching with a blower and stock width street tires on the street, you bet he is spinning. And as said by harry, when his car would spin it wouldnt shift correctly at the right rpm. I agree that there might be something wrong in the tune or transmission possibly. But still, with cams and a blower, would you disagree that better tires and suspension are a must? I doubt it.

See if you have any friends with drag radials that will let you check to see if having traction will help out with the problem. Or manually shift the car from 2-3 to see if your rev limiter is indeed set to 6400. I know when my manual trans car is spinning its a hell of a lot harder to shift(actually get the car into the gear) than it is when I have traction. So maybe there is a correlation between missed shifts and spinning, or that there might be an issue with the transmission not shifting at the correct rpm while spinning. Just some food for thought.

Or learn to launch without spinning. Or just stop driving like a jackwagon on the street.

Lots of "free" solutions to this one.

I personally used to run street tires with a blower/cams and even when it would spin it would NEVER rev up to that rpm range.

I also personally shattered an input shaft and destroyed a stock 4R70W and it wouldnt catch gear and would rev wayyy high

Could be blowing through your converter....how many miles are on your verter? And how many miles with the blower?

Or

Like said need to take it to get tuned to possibly shift point is messed up

When my tuner tuned my car he left my rev limiter and shift points open, that why i know it is not the tune. And i just checked today and the rev limiter is set to 6400

And lil roush i dont drive like a jack wagon, just because i play around a little with a friend doesnt mean anything i am sure you have done it before.

I have stock converter on my car so 73k miles on it and the blower hasn't even been on the car for 500 miles yet like 428 miles.

And for those that asked yes i am still spinning all the way up to 7100 rpm. As soon as i let off it shifts. As soon as the rpm's stop rising it will shift to second.

So what are you guys thinking I should do then?
