Do I need premium gas in GT?

Do I need premium gas in GT?
I've always used regular 86 octane gas in my 2002 GT, but I was thinking about trying a tank full of 90 octane. Would that make the engine run a little stronger? It runs fine on the 86, but does seem a bit sluggish at times. I think the compression is 9.4:1, which seems borderline high to me, but I don't know anything about the computer adjustments to gas quality on this car.

The stock tune is designed to run off standard octane fuel. There should be no need to run a higher octane fuel until you adjust the tune to require it.
If the car feels sluggish it could be time for tune up or could a multitude of other things.

The gas is crap and higher octane gas is crap with higher octane.
My cousin delivers fuel for Marathon and he told me that the trailers that deliver ethanol to the refinery have 4 gaskets that have to be replaced 3 times a week because the ethanol is so 'hot'.
I wonder how many people around the world are hungry going today because Algore insisted on using our corn for making gas.

Don't waste your money on higher octane unless the car is setup.for it.
And on the ethonal subject e85 ftmfw although I think they should use alternate options other than corn to make it.

check to see if your butterfly valve is gunked up, could be your sluggish problem.
just pop off the intake boot and take a look, if black and oily, id clean in

You can buy a tuner from AM and get a 93 octane tune. Than running 93 octane will make a difference.

from the shop manual:
I cannot count the number of idle problems that I have traced back to someone deciding to "clean" the black gunk, I.e. special coating, from the TB bore and plate...
