tinted my head lights, complete disaster!
so, i went to Autozone, got VHT night shade spray paint and rustoleum clear coat, went home, took all my light housings out, wet sanded them with 2000 grit sandpaper to rough them up a little so the paint will have a good surface to adhere to, sprayed the tail lights with 2 coats of the night shade and 4 coats of clear coat, put em in, they look amazing, went to do the front, did the first coat walked away and when i acme back a few minutes later to do teh second coat they looked like this:
i have no idea how it happnend, i didnt do anything differently to the head lights than when i did the tail lights, but i tried to do a couple more coats of the paint then 2 coats of clear to see if it would help, but it just made everything worse.... so i got freakin paint thinner out and started rubbing on it and soaking it, didnt phase it... so i got 80 grit sand paper and started going to town... going to try again tomorrow....

Bad news, you just ruined your lights, just like I did.
The VHT reacts with the plastic used for the headlights, the coating isnt cracked, it etched the plactic and has left deep pits and valleys in it. I ruined my original set, and a 2nd set trying to tint them, tried painting in 0 humidity conditions, cool conditions, warm conditions, multiple dust coats, 1 thick coat...always the same result.
Tail lights turned out awesome though....I had to buy new headlgihts, again.
I had the same etching reaction when I tried to do the tail lights on my cousins 1990 Sierra Z71, 1 coat...etched, I spent 45 minutes with 180 grit, then 45 minutes with 500 grit, then an hour with 1000 grit wet, then a while buffing and compounding, just to make them usable again. I had to literally sand off lens until the pits and valleys were level.
