Default Is this a good idea?

Ok here the deal. My daily driver (01 gt) is getting pretty high in miles and I know eventually it will pass away but here's what I'm thinking . I asked ford how much they would charge to put in a new engine for me. The said it would be a "refurbished" engine with 0 miles for $5000. So I guess when the time comes I will do that. Then I want to puts some bada$$ cams in it. The best ones. I'm not sure which ones are the best. Any ideas? I want to get as much power as possible and I want a big lope.

And when I install the new cams should I go ahead and upgrade the valve springs? Anything else I should do as well?

Btw I'm gonna have Dallas mustang install the cams.

So does this sounds like a good plan?

Horrible plan. If you're willing to spend 5 grand on a motor, buy a 4v (or something much better than a 2v) from the junkyard for dirt cheap. You'll have plenty of money left to beef up the suspension too.

the very last place to look for a refurbished engine is Ford. they are very very overpriced on everything. If Dallas is doing your cams have them rebuild your engine at the same time
+1 on your plan being horrible

ATM it has 170k :/ but still doing good. Doesn't even drink any oil best car I ever owned. And yeah I figured ford was high but I called Dallas mustang and they said they would do a rebuild on it for 2500. I though that was crazy. And they said they would put a new engine in for 6k :/ and when I asked about putting in a mach1 engine they said 9500:/ so where do y'all think i can get a 4v for cheap? Like is there a website for auto salvage? I saw some motors on eBay that were connected to a websites would theses be ok?

yea, i picked up a mark viii long block (same as a 96-98 cobra minus the cams) from a salvage yard for 200. it had 85,000 on it. i just needed the block but it was still nice to have a running low milage motor. your best bet is to beat that motor for a while longer and build a motor on the side. this will give you time to learn what motor that will benifit you best and the cost will be spread out over time.
