Default Please Help with CEL - P1260 Theft

Im getting a CEL with code P1260 - Theft, Engine Disabled. It takes several attempts to get the car started. It will start and run for a few seconds and then shut off. I have an aftermarket Python alarm installed from 4 years ago if that helps.

I dont even know where to start.

Anything would be helpful.

Thank you!

Your '98 has PATS type B, it's the only year of Mustang to have that system.

This is all the information I have about type B, the Mustang implementation did not include a starter interrupt system.

As the aftermarket alarm is most likely tied to the PATS I would first have whomever installed it check the alarm system out first...

you sure you dont have any other PATS codes? Could be a pats transceiver fault or a key fault
