Yep, that is a pain in the pooper. I took a large punch at placed it inside the heater tube, then I heated the lower part of the tube with a torch and bent it back and toward the front of the car. Then I made a frankenstien hose that made a complete 180 turn to go back.

You can see it in the back corner of this pic:

I got my exhaust manifolds in the mail the other day and have not been able to do anything with them until today. Here is the popular solution to deleting the smog and EGR equipment:

It's just plain old brass pipe caps with light amounts of RTV to hold them in place and hopefully prevent leaks.

Before that I got the clutch on and trans bolted to the engine.

Here is how I decided to deal with the crossover plug that is a treat to deal with (sarcasm). I actually broke two (2) 1/4 inch ratchets in the Ford plug.

Luckily it's standard pipe thread and I found a fitting for a water temp sensor gauge laying around and stuck it in there. So now I have a water temp guage in addition to the factory sensors. Woo!

Just be sure to pull that sensor out when you fill it up, make sure that the system is burped. And yes, that plug is a pain in the ***, heat is your friend.

Just fill it up from that plug, then add to the cooling reservoir, then once the T stat opens, you can cap that plug.
