Build Update
Hey guys! I have been working on my build for years now, all because I am in the Navy and I have been in the process of adopting two boys! My oldest son and I have been working hard to get finished up and we are almost there but here is an update!
1st: we found that the spark plugs were jacked, I'm assuming the old motor slipped timing?
2nd: we got the old motor out and torn down, the passenger side head wasn't receiving oil, there was a huge blockage in it.
3rd: Is that rust in the cylinder wells? Why yes, yes it is! Thanks mechanic that left my car in the elements while I was at sea! Jerk had to give me all my money back and left a mess of everything which I am piecing back together.
We will be finishing up this summer, but first I have to ask, do I need to buy a new clutch cover or can I just buy a new pilot bearing, throwout bearing and clutch disk? My centerforce clutch cover looks great still so please help me decide that! The block will be back together soon. Also, does anyone have a how to for getting the tranny and the block back together on the ground? I am having a hard time picturing it.
My crazy story for you guys on the engine pull: I was underneath guiding the motor and my son (Pictured below) was jacking the hoist for me. The engine mounts were rusted to the body of the car and when we were jacking it we were lifting the whole car. When the rust finally let go the car slammed down on the jack stands and the car started sliding off with me underneath it! I held the car up and my son got the neighbor over fast to get me out before it slammed me and killed me. We got it re situated on the jack stands and the motor out. Then we discovered that my driveway is uneven and the motor went down with the hoist but luckily I knew I wasn't reusing it. We are more prepared for the reinstall now! I will let you guys know when that happens!
