Default Tax return build on my 03!

So it turns out I'm getting a decent amount from my tax returns and I wanted to see what people thought about the build I'm intending to do. I got the car at a stellar price and knew it needed a bit of work. I'm looking to rebuild the tranny, add a spec stage 1 clutch, bassani x-pipe and SLP LMII catback... and machine the current fly (unless aluminum is worth it?).

I hit up a few shops and found a nice mustang specialty shop that is reputable around my area and got quoted some really nice prices.. 400 on the rebuild, 150 on the spec stage 1(they ordered too many, its 224 on AM), the x-pipe and catback im getting from AM and they are doing all the install for approx 350.. they bill at 85 an hour and the tranny job is around 2.5 hours for them. I get a one year/35k on the tranny also.

So now a few questions...
Should I just look at stronger trannys or is the stock on the 03 fine for a non FI build?

Is there any real benefit to an aluminum fly?

Is the spec stage 1 clutch a good clutch?

and lastly... do those prices seem fair?

Thanks for all the input!

Those prices seem good to me. The spec sage 1 is a good clutch, but buy ford tob and pilot bearings, don't use the spec ones that come with it. The stock Trans will be fine even if you do decide to do fi later, once you exceed the limits of the stock block(~400whp) then the Trans becomes questionable. Lastly about the flywheel, I would have to say its not really worth it to buy aluminum. But I'm an auto guy so don't know that much about the pros of different flywheel materials.

Alumunim flywheel= less weight and less driveline rotation mass which would equla quicker revs and less vibrations. I def think aluminum is worth the little extra it costs.

ok awesome! A guy is also offering me his IRS for my rear at no extra cost just needs to be resealed and put 373 gears in etc.. Does the IRS noticibly improve handling and is this type of conversion usually beneficial?

Oh lord, here we go again...

Do some research on here about the IRS swap. There's a lot of guys who are SRA guys and a lot of guys are IRS guys. If it was me, I'd do the trade in a heart beat. As in, if you don't want to do the swap, put me in contact with him. My spring break starts March 9th. I'd drive down to Va to meet with him...
