Default T-45 to Hanlon Motorsports 3650 swap?

I have a few questions about this. The trans is an 02 Hanlon Motorsports 3650 built with the 05 internals and has about 2k miles on it. I was thinking about ditching my t-45 and installing this in my 00 DD because I wanted something more solid and want the .62 OD gear so I can throw some 4.10's in. How hard would it be to swap from my t-45 to this trans? Does anyone have a write up on how to do it or what parts are needed? Any opinions on Hanlon Motorsports in general?

EDIT: I'm assuming it has the .62, if it has the 05's .67 OD gear this thread is pointless, but I'm going to look at it this Sunday haha. If not I might just grab a stock 3650 to throw in.

the only 3650 that had a .62 OD ratio were the 5spd MACH 1's...

Are you sure? I thought some GT's did too. Can anyone confirm?

No one has ever swapped a 3650 into a t-45 car and no one knows about this performance shop? Bump for some help.

The 3650s in the '03 and '04 GTs have a 0.62:1 5th gear.

There may also be some late production '02s with the 0.62:1 5th? I have had people owning them report that when they selected the Tremec 3650 (pre-'03) transmission option in my How Fast Can I Go in Each Gear? calculator the numbers were wrong. When they selected the Tremec 3650 ('03/'04) transmission all was well...

I have verified this mathematically on my '03 GT where 2500 rpm in 5th, with my 3.73 gears, is 80 mph right on the nose; and when I did the clutch last year by turning the input shaft 20 turns and counting 12.4 turns at the output...

----------------------------------------------------------------
Regarding Hanlon Motorsports, they have a very good reputation and could I suspect answer all your questions as to replacing your t-45 with a 3650...

Cool, thanks Cliffy, I thought the GT's had the .62 at some point. What all has to be done or get changed to swap in the 3650? Is it something that's pretty straight forward or should I stay away from it and stick with my t-45?

Reviving this thread now that I got some 4.10's. Does anyone know what all I need to have/do to swap in the 3650. I found a couple for sale and was thinking of picking one up soon to swap in from my t-45.

The only differences is the wiring harness, and the flywheel and clutch is 10.5" for the t45 and the 3650 usually has an 11". However, as long as the input shafts have the same splines, it won't be an issue. I'm pretty sure the driveshafts are the same. Also, if you have an aftermarket shifter I'm pretty sure it won't wotk

1) What all has to be changed with the wiring?

2) I'd like to stick with a 10.5" clutch as I really have no need for the extra rotational mass of an 11 and I would prefer to not have to buy another flywheel. The car's fairly stock and won't ever be anything crazy in the near future. Can anyone confirm that my current flywheel and clutch will work?

3) Driveshafts the same? Can anyone confirm?

4) Shifters are different, that was one thing I was aware of but didn't mention, thanks for bringing that up though, that could have been a bummer if I didn't know it haha.

5) What about clutch cable, is that the same length?

6) A little off topic, but does anyone know what kind of power the 3650 can really take? I'm thinking of using one to swap into my 69 in place of my C6 but the car's already over 400 horse and will probably be 5-550 in the future. I just want to be sure I get something in there that can handle the abuse. A t-56 is going to be a heck of a swap because the car's not even close to wanting to fit that transmission, so I figured this might be a good plan B.

You just need to get a 3650 wiring harness. The plugs are different on them. It still plugs directly into the engine harness.
Both the t45 and the 3650 are a 10t input. So it will be the same.
The driveshaft will be the same aswell. They sell aluminum driveshafts at american muscle that say "96-04 gt" So it has to be the same. (Thatd be a really good upgrade while you are down there)
Im not too sure on the amount of power it can handle, but the t56 magnum is an AWESOME transmission. I just did a t56 magnum swap, and holy crap, the shifts are so nice!!!!!!!!!!
