Going to the Strip.

Going to the Strip.
Hey guys,
I will be going to the drag strip tomorrow night and was wondering if anyone had some pointers.
I have raced at the track before. This time I will have Nittos nto Drag radias and a 100 shot. The N20 hits about 2700rpm. I was wondering how much should I burn out with these new tires. I don't want to much grip and hurt the car but also want a good launch. My car has about 340rwhp and 396rwtq but that's spraying which shouldn't spray until I have grip (I hope) Any sugeestions would be great. Thanks

Nitto DRs need to build some heat to get the grip.
Pull into the water box and turn the tires over once to get tires wet. Roll just out of the water box and stop. Put the car into 2nd gear. Raise rpm to around 3000-3500. Dump the clutch and move your left foot onto the brake pedal. While applying enough gas to keep the tires spinning, apply just enough pressure to the brake pedal to keep the car from moving forward. Spin the tires until just a little smoke is generated. Let off the brake and then let off the gas as the car begins to move forward.
Your tires are ready to go. Be sure to position yourself in the tire tracks of the cars that have run before you. That is where the traction is in the lane.
I'd stage and raise the rpm to around 3000rpm. Your maximum torque with spray comes at around 3000rpm. When the 3rd yellow lights, release the clutch fairly quickly as you roll into the throttle. You should be WOT almost immediately and the spray will engage. The car should have plenty of hook to hold the spray once the car has begun moving forward just a little bit.
If you don't have a window switch for the spray, watch your rpm/shift points closely(especially in first gear). You do not want to hit your rev limiter with the spray engaged!!!
Note: purging is important, so if you have a purge kit be sure to purge the system after your burnout and before you stage. If you don't have a purge kit, you can go WOT at the end of your burnout to purge the system thru the motor. Just DON'T hit your rev limiter.
You will like the DRs and spray
GOOD LUCK!!!

You probably know this already, but a mild stall converter would help your car at the track quite a bit and it would still drive perfectly fine on the street. Also, having a custom tune made to optimize your shift characteristics.
Good luck and enjoy the new power and grip at the track!

Bring rpms up to about 1500-1800...right before your tires start to spin.
Not sure how well you're gonna hook up..but just launch and hammer the gas.
I never had good luck with nittos. Too much of a burn out and they get really greasey. I may have missed in ur post but, what gears do u have?

There Nitto NTO DR 275/40/17. I went to the track last night. My best run N/A was 14.2 but my 60ft was still 2.17. So I know I can do better 60ft. When I sprayed 100shot my time was 12.7 and 60ft was 2.01. My RPM was about 1600 when I launch and that was the highest I could get it. Unless I am not burning out enough which I dont think I did.
