I like it

I've been reading through a few other swap threads and I have some confusion about the oil pickup / oil pan compatibility. Will the '96 GT oil pickup work on the '98 Mark VIII engine?

Putting JB Weld in the IMRC openings today. Good thing it is a crappy day outside because this is not something that you can just walk away from. It's been about a half hour and the semi-liquid mixture still wants to run out of the holes. I've cleaned up around the holes as much as I can without disturbing the patch area. Can you go back and clean this stuff up later?

Just get some 400 grit sand paper to clean it up.

Just an FYI, its only really necessary to fill the holes that would bleed into the closed casting/gasket areas, the ones directly between the ports don't need to be filled.

I've now babysit these patches for about six hours. In the interim, I've read about the well-earned reputation of J-B the Weld glacial-flow drying time. Thanks for the information but I would think that the leak between cylinders would be counter-productive to the proper combustion process.

There would be no leaks between cylinders as one square port and one round port= same cylinder.

Hello, great job so far on your swap. I'm going to do the same swap on my 96 in two weeks, I found a complete 97 mark 8 motor with 101k miles for 550.00. Keep up the good work I'll be looking forward to seeing how yours turns out.
