Usually when I lock the doors by hitting the lock button on the remote twice, it will beep once. However, lately it beeps twice despite using the remote the same way. Is this a sign of something about to go out maybe? A low battery or something else?

No, double honk/beep in rapid sucession means the system thinks somehting is open (door or trunk). If they are closed shut, could be the door switch is going out and showing "open" even though the door/trunk is closed.

..interesting....since with the key in the ignition on the 'on' position (engine not on), several seconds after the initial key turn the car does make that beep as if something is open. I'll go see if anything is open, thanks.

That is most likely a reminder to let you know..."Hey dumarse, you left the key in the ignition" I thought you had the key out and were locking it up as you were walking away.

That is correct, but I'm saying that other beep/key in ignition thing was also another thing I noticed that was out of the ordinary..as in the two things happened because maybe a trunk isn't slammed shut or the door isn't closed, or maybe that door switch took a sh*t.
