Disconnecting front sway bar
 
Might be heading to the track tonight. I hear alot of people will disconnect their front sway bar for better launches.. How true is this? and how squirelly will it make my car? I can leave the shocks and struts a bit stiff for the ride there if need be.. how beneficial is it to disconnect though?

It's do-able. You're really only losing like 30 or so pounds. If that. 100 pounds generally equals one tenth of a second.

You can weigh the pro's and con's.

Moonshine, I've heard it creates better weight transfer for better 60's... ??

Don't just disconnect it, take it completely out takes another 3 mins. It helps drop weight, but the biggest difference is weight transfer. As far as streetability, I haven't had mine in for over a year and drive on the street all the time. It will just roll a bit more on corners, but there ain't any corners on a drag strip!!! I don't have front or rear sway bars so my car kinda handles like a boat.

Yea yank it out. I hear of people doing it all the time. Never actually done it myself, but I'd try it for a couple of trips down the track.

I remove my front bar when I head to the drag strip. It takes a few minutes, but it does help transfer weight on launch. Every pound counts so the additional 18lbs off the front end doesn't hurt either. Just don't attack any corners like usual without the bar. The car will understeer badly without it. You emergency avoidance maneuvers will be virtually eliminated, so allow slightly greater following distances.
