t-56 vs C4 at track auto guys help me!!!
so i am selling my t-56 magnum to go with a fully built and rollerized c4 trans with reverse manual valve body. i wanted to see how much faster at the track/ street i will be. seeing if anyone has done this with results.

depends how good your driver mod is. if you can drive great, then i dont see an auto getting too much of better times, maybe a tenth or two. consistency and ease will be way up, and imo fun factor will be way down.

well then hows your shifting? if you can bang gears then i see no point in switching. if you are having trouble wether it be you or the trans then change it out. the n2mb box may be something to look into as well i put it on my car and it really helped me on the shifting i was a sub par shifter before now after that and just more seat time i'm pretty decent. if you can swing it i'd go 4r tho because losing overdrive would suck ballz if you take your car out for some fun.

A well-built auto will net you huge gains, typically 0.5s in the 1/4 mile for a 400-500 rwhp car. I see it all the time. The more power you make, the more it'll benefit you. For peaky centrifugal blower setups, the gain can be even more (closer to a full second) because the faster shifts will keep the rpms up high and the engine under boost.

I wouldn't go as far as saying half a second, especially if you have a stick and you can actually shift it, and hook up/launch good. Take the ported eaton cobras for instance, the top 2 fastest are both 9's, one is a 6speed with a best of 9.91 and the other is an auto running a best of 9.81, so .1 difference in a 9 second car, both have very similar build other than the trans.
now if you're not a good shifter and if you cant hook with the stick then i'm sure you will pick up .5 or more with an auto swap.

Yes, past the 500-600 rwhp level, even experience dragracers will gain a half second to a full second when they switch to autos. But they lose a couple MPH due to the power loss. It's not because they are "bad drivers," it's often because the beefier transmisisons like the T56 are difficult to powershift. I powershifted my T45 all day, but when I switched over to my T56 (b/c T45 was too weak) my shifts slowed down a lot. The T56 is a much stronger transmission but its also more clunky and gives a lot more resistance in the shifts. People who run 9's with a manual tranny probably have them faceplated, which will give butter smooth powershifts at 7000 rpms. But I doubt the OP wants to do that. Even if he does, it is still hard to compete with built automatics, which shifts on millisecond timescales. When you see someone dipping into the 10's at only 120 mph, you know it must be an automatic.
