Default 15x3.5 weld prostarts, cobra brakes, and 1 inch wheel spacers.

Trying to wrap up some last minute stuff before I get my car finished. Im running a 15x3.5 prostar with cobra brakes up front, I know you have to run a 1 inch spacer so I picked them up, well it looks like after a little research I have to cut off about 1/4 inch off of the factory studs to allow the prostar to fit flush against the spacer. I don't know how I feel about cutting threads off and actually considering going back to smaller brakes. How is the reliable of the studs after they been timmed down, especially when putting the heavier 17s back on?

you should be fine as long as you have the lug nut threaded on atleast 3/4 of an inch.

Going back to smaller brakes won't help you. My stock GT brakes still hit on my prostars without a spacer.

Cutting the studs aren't a big deal. The nuts will still get a good bite on the cut studs.

It seems with GT brakes u can get away with just runnig a small spacer ring rather that a large spacer with studs.

You'll still need a good 1/2" at least for GT brakes. That's one reason I ditched my Prostars. I'm just keeping the back ones for the track.

Agreed.

I thought it was 1.5" spacer in the front to clear the 13" brakes for the Pro Stars?

I run 3.5" up front and dont know the exact size spacer I forget what I went with, but I run stock GT brakes and had to grind the caliper a bit and no clearance issues at all
