Is it possible not to ruin the paint?

The previous owner put gt500 cobra emblems on the car that just look plain hideous. Im going to get my hood painted soon and want to try and take off these large emblems before hand just incase i have to get fenders repainted.
Any one have an idea whats the best way to go about this with out ruining the paint or clear coat?

So im guessing there stuck on with 3M tape? Back in the day I used a heat gun/hair drier to remove old pin stripe. Maybe try that real careful and lightly. Try not to get to close or leave it on the same stop for to long. Then with a rag or towel and a screw driver while still hot/warm and pop off the cobra. Then clean up the old tape residue with some light rubbing compound and a good cleaner wax. Be careful and very gentle. Good luck....
Just a thought.

Heat the things up and use a credit card and to pull it off. Then some rubbing alcohol to remove the rest of the stuff. Then just wax over it and you're done.

so hair dryer and credit card? than a good buff?

That's what I used. You would just get under it initially, after that you could probably just use your hand and pull it off. Heat it up really good though. Don't get bored after 10 seconds and then try. It did help when I did it in the summer too.
