i have a 00 mustang gt with a 4.6 one of the rods are knocking due to the timing chain guide plugging the oil pump..question is my son has another motor that has a broken block where the starter mounts..Can i just change out the rotating assembly ans salp some new rings on the pistons and be ok or are there other issues i would have to worry about with this 4.6. there were no other issues with this before the oil plugged up and it was ran a limited amount of time..any thoughts are welcome.

mileage is 100 k on both motors but am trying to get by with what i have to trade it in or drive it for a while

wrong forum to start with so it may be more helpful to move the thread. As long as it is the same engine code, you should be fine.

what year is your sons motor? if its 96-98 it will have different pistons, which will cause higher compression.

the replacement engine is a 2002 gt 4.6
