Default The car search is still on and I have a few questions

So as some of you may know I have been contemplating on getting a mustang and decided to go with the 99-04 gt. But I need some info and opinions from you guys. The range of Gt's I'm looking at have about 125,000 miles on them. I had a 96 Gt before and once it hit 135,000 it just started falling apart. (Trans, miss fires, intake manifold, and a few other things and I only had it about a year.) Are the 99-04's the same way? I am also at looking at stick but my dad has always told me not to get a stick due to pressure plates going out after 100,000 miles. Have any of yall had any problems like this with this motor or trans at that high of mileage?

Also if I did an engine rebuild, but very few performance parts(slight cam and new springs) how much do you think that could run me? I know the cam and springs you can usually pick up for $300-$500 but I don't know prices of everything else.

Thanks for the help!

On my gt. I have about 116000 miles and still havnt had a problem. The motor ran strong with a supercharger, held 9lbs on stock rings and rotating assembly, and i still have an all stock driveline with no transmission problems. I couldn't tell you how good the motors still holding up since I upgraded. But I only got rid of the stock block to push more boost. I purchased stage 3 comp cams and springs and it ran me about $600 but that was with a 10% discount.

And with the pressure plate going out. If you have a manual transmission your going to have to replace the clutch eventually. No big deal and its expected to happen. O and deff go manual. So much more fun drive. And clutch replacement is easy. And if your going to do a rebuild and already have the motor out then your golden

Well the thing is I'm in college, I would probably just do a stage one clutch. But I've never done a clutch install before. How long would it take to do one?
