Question Chip vs. Tuner Which would be better and won't hurt the wallet?

Hey there,
Later down the road I really want to tune up the mustang and see what that V8 has. But I am puzzled on what to get i hear tuners are good and that chips screw up the transmission. But i just wanted to see what was good out there and won't cost me and arm and a leg. As always thanks for all the input.

I would go with a tuner. It's easier to make adjustments. Just plug it in, change your configurations, and unplug it. More versatility with a tuner. Plus it reads codes too if your car ever throws any.

like hp said. the thing that i really like is changing stuff on the go if you need to. plus the ability to read SES's and CEL's

what everyone said. however, if you want a chip, i have one for sale for 125. the thing with chips is you have to get someone to write a tune for you and put it on there, so you send it to them, they upload the tune and send it to you. if you have a manual car a chip will be fine, but with an auto a handheld is best so you can fine tune shift points and things like that. also, neither one will mess with your trans as long as the tuning on it is good.
