Are you picky about where you park?

Yes, usually very picky. My car may be 11 years old and not in perfect condition but I still paid money for it and I will do my best to keep it in good condition. It has a few scratches on it and a very tiny ding on the rear fender but I still treat it like brand new.

On the average, I pick up parking lot damage that requires professional repair once a month. While my job involves parking in parking lots, I doubt many of us would be happy if they woke up to a dozen unrepairable dings in their car tomorrow morning.
I was keyed, picked up three have non-buffable scrapes 6-12 inches long, The rear bumper was scraped down to the urethane all across the rear of the car. There's a bumper hit hard enough to put two inch-long splits in the bumper cover. Door dings? don't get me started. There are more...
A few safer parking techniques: On request I'll get into the finer points, like the anti-lemming strategy, taking up two spaces without looking like it, and the use of other collector cars for cover without attracting dings or unwanted attention.
No matter how safe you try to be, someone will get you.
Park 80% of the distance away from the building.
Don't park next to anybody.
Pick a spot that is so wide no possible door can hit you.
Don't take up two spaces-this increases keying.
It's just a mistake if you don't leave them enough room to open their door.
