Default New ride in the garage

No I did not get rid of the GT. Picked up a new 2013 Explorer Limited. I have never driven a vehicle with so much electronics in it. It does everything but kiss you good night. This will be the wifes new truck and I will now drive our 04' EB Explorer. Now I can park the GT and start my build. I hated driving it in the summer. It is so damn hot and it pretty much runs like crap when it is hot and humid. I will drive it more in the winter since the weather down here is so nice. Anyway onto pics.

2013 Explorer Limited
302A equipment group
Platinum Tri Coat
20 inch polished aluminum wheels
Blk/Pecan leather interior

I am going to pull the block and send it out for a complete rebuild. Balanced and blue printed. Ported heads and new cams. Of course this won't happen until the first of next year. Car runs great right now, but it is bordering on power and don't want to blow the engine. I will still enjoy it on the weekends, but it will no longer be my daily.

great choice. did you get the awd? which engine? I really like the ecoboost 4, drives great and great gas mileage. I work at a dealer and haven't seen many issues with them. saw one that was awd and it literally blew apart the t-case. No idea how but something went kaput in there lol.

It is the FWD V6. Gas mileage on the 4WD was way worse and we saw no need for it here in AZ. I had heard bad things about the ecoboost so stayed away from that. Mileage right now is averaging about 27 which is nice in this big thing. The 4.0l in the 04' has had some problems with the timing chain guides and tensioners which I am still trying to figure out so I hope the Ford engineers did not use the same technology on this V6. Otherwise it is a really nice ride.

they're completely different engines. the 4.0 was a horrible design, you have to pull the motor to do timing chain guides/casettes and you have to have a few different special timing tools. I've done a few of them, starts off with a rattle on start up and gets worse and worse. The only issues i've seen with the new vehicles is cooling fans, watch your temps. it's usually the fans in the ecoboosted cars from what i've noticed but there's a shortage of them they're failing so often. I haven't seen/heard of any issues with the 4cyl ecoboost yet, but it's brand spanking new so still way too early to tell.

My mom got a limited in that brownish color and she loves it. She got the 4x4 ecoboost and she gets great mileage out of it so far. And there is a lot of great technology in it, but trying to teach her how to work the electronics in it is like trying to teach a toddler how to read lol.

And she has the 302a as well too, I love the air conditioned seats and the sound system in it. The sound system is by far the best stock one I have ever heard blows the bose in the chevys away Haha
