Default cobra brake swap

I'm agonizing over the decision here. I can get some used front calipers, rotors, rubber brake lines, and stock pads w/ about half life left in them for $270.

I can't decide if I'd like to do that or get some new hawk pads and stainless lines for around $155. I'd also need to turn the rotors which runs runs what, $15 each?

Either upgrade would include new dot 5.1 fluid.

Id pass on the cobra brakes and do the S/S lines, hawk pads and rotors. I think you'll see more gain from that.

^ agreed

The Cobra brakes are going to add little more than appearance and would NOT install such a brake upgrade and not get SS lines. So you would really need to figure that into the cost and makes that $270 closer to what..... $350?

Yeah, I know, they just looks so damned pretty though. haha. The wife probably wouldn't let me get the cobra brakes anyway since I just got wheels last month. I do need a new set of pads though, I'll probably just fudge the numbers a bit and throw the cost of lines in there with the pads. haha

Spent another 6 bucks and purchase some RED caliper paint I am in agreement with the above two people. However I do see your point too.

I'd get the cobra brakes. That's a pretty good deal as long as the calipers work and the rotors can be cut. They just look so much better and you can upgrade the lines and pads in the future if you wanted to. Just my opinion though...

Do the Cobra brakes have the raised "COBRA" on them? If so, thats a pretty good price.

As Jazzer said, you will get just as good stopping power with the stock calipers if you upgrade your pads, fluid, etc..

Myself, as someone who recently did this upgrade I can tell you I am very happy with it. Although, the #1 reason I went with the Cobra calipers was cosmetic. They fill out the wheels very nicely.

They did have the raised Cobra lettering. I'd actually prefer calipers that didn't have that though. Don't want to be accused of being a poser. haha
