Smile Cleaned My Engine Bay

Decided to clean my engine bay today since it was such an eyesore. Had this been my car from the beginning of it's life, it never would made it to the condition it was in before I cleaned it today. I used a product called Purple Power and all I can say about it is WOW, it did an excellent job. I haven't detailed it yet, but the cleaner definitely gave me a head start, and it only took about 45 minutes from start to finish.

We use Purple Power at my workplace for oily messes, it's pretty good even when cutting it with half water.

I've always wanted to clean my engine bay, (not just on the Stang) but it's always in the back of my head, water, electrical, my bad luck with cars, no thank you.

Looks real good though!

^That was my thinking on it too, man. I really didn't like the idea but it was necessary, you just gotta take the plunge. I covered up most of my electrical components(alternator, battery, fuse box, ect) and used an air nozzle to blow everything dry immediately after rinse. Then I took my COPs out and blew down in the spark plug holes and let the car sit for a couple of hours. She fired up just fine.

I had heard talk about the oil dip sticks being 5qt and Ford changed them to 6qt as my engine is 2001 and the handle looks different then yours.

When you do this, do you spray the Engine bay cleaner on, and then spray it down with water? Or do you scrub a lot of it and then rinse?

I also spot a few other things.. When was that first pics taken?.. There wasn't a clutch cable and you had stock strut caps.. The second photo has a clutch cable and looks like aftermarket CC plates.

I just sprayed on the cleaner and let it sit for a few, then rinsed it off.

I bought the car back at the end of May and the pic was taken minutes after I pulled it off the trailer. The car was originally an auto but I converted it to a manual(TKO600) a few weeks ago. That clutch cable was an adjustable unit that I had laying in the garage. I put an OEM cable in yesterday and bolted down the little mounting bracket as well. I put on the C/C plates and coil overs the weekend before last. I have a build thread in this section, check it out. I've done a ton of stuff to this car in the small amount of time I've had it.
