Thanks Shane,
I'm not completly sure that it was there before or if it is a problem that has been there and is getting worse. I did notice it ping when we first got it and just thought it was cheap gas.

I'm leaning towards a weak fuel pump or a weak coil. It does stumble/miss slightly if you wrap the throttle off idle.

Thanks everybody for the help i'm sure we will get to the bottom of it sooner or later.

Hey Guys and gals,
looks like i found the culprit.
There is a bunch of PO's messy wiring from swapping the heads and intake.
I found the plug wires were never installed right they weren't clipped on to the plugs.
while i was there i moved the coolant temp wire and the damn thing stummbled. untaped the wiring and found that the PO just twisted and taped the splices for the coolant temp extention for the bullitt intake.
Now it runs like a bat out of hell even better than when we bought it.
Thanks for all of the help.
Now on to a programmer.
What do you guys out there prefer. It still has to pass smog.

will a Bullitt engine wire harness fit a 96 with the bullitt intake.
I'm sure that i can do the repairs to my harness to make it right.
But if i can get a harness that fits rather than spend hours of time fixing someone lack of experience it would be nice.

A CAI definatly doesn't require a tune on a 96-04 car. Nor should it on an 05-up car as its been proven tim e and time again they can't outflow the stock tube.
