Default Not too happy... *Carnage inside*

Before I get to it, some details because I'm so pissed off about this... the car only has 87k miles and is my almost perfect fairly stock 2000 GT that has been garage kept and pampered it's entire life. About a month ago (yes it's taken me this long to post up, but it's my DD and I went into panic mode)

I was at a traffic light, took of normal in first, hit second normal, held rpm steady around 4k and just rolled in it fairly hard for fun. The car instantly started making a horrible noise so I let off. Below is the aftermath and the sequence of events after I got the engine out and figured out what happened. My best guess is the valve spring somehow snapped, dropping a valve, which in turn my piston smashed to all living hell which of course exploded my piston all over the place. So much for an amazingly clean and well taken care of engine. /rant

That is brutal, but only a chance to rebuild it stronger than even before!

i was just gonna say something like that. are you sure you "rolled" into second "fairly hard" ? and not with the intention of trying to light 3rd up? haha, i mean, not funny i feel you, i went through 2 rod bearings before i rebuilt, but man i didnt destroy half the motor, looks like you probably over reved and floated the valve releasing the keeper, then carnage followed. It sucks, but like others said good time to rebuild. Dont half *** it go big, i didnt and i regret it. factory rebuilds arent worth it.

I have seen worse, but not many. These cars have rev limiters that cut fuel long before you will float a valve.

I didn't over rev the car 4500 rpm is not over revved. I know for a fact that's the rpm it broke at, I was staring at the tach. This had to be a factory defect.

Yup. There is a reason I kept my stock rev limiter on my car. This spring broke, I have a very basic bolt on motor, no cams, headers, hell even my h pipe is stock. There is no reason this should happen to a stock engine.
