Default New Brake Pads & Rotors

I haven't posted on here in a loooong time. I've been focused on my f100 truck project and have just been driving my mustang a couple times a month.

Its time for some brake work on the mustang. No more than what I've done with the car, or plan to do with the car performance wise, I am fine with stock brakes. I do like the look of the drilled and slotted rotors and it looks like summit has some options that are close in price to standard flat rotors, so I'm considering them.

I've read the posts arguing back and forth about the whether the drilled / slotted have ture performance gains, etc. I'm not as interested in the pro's as I am in the con's. Would I need to worry about cracking on general street use? Will they burn through pads quickly?

If anyone has feedback, I would be curious to hear. Would it make more sense to run standard rotors and just upgrade the pads? If so, any recommendations on pads?

Thanks

I just use Raybestos, I just bought ceramic pads, their top rotors for my 2000 GT from Rock Auto for 285.00 shipped. I've done my research and I've gleaned that for me to need slotted/drilled I would have to be driving on a track, the design as I've read is specifically about heat dispersion to prevent brake fade if you are running your brakes that hard on the street something is wrong. If you're more concerned about looks SSBC has an all around kit for just over 300.00 for our cars that looks pretty decent. Me, I like functionality more than looks. If you need parts #'s for either PM me. My .02.

04... Seabee is right

You will get just as good braking performance on OEM rotors and calipers with just fluid, pads and SS lines. Peep Brakes Upgrade in my sig and will be golden.
