Default Cats are bad....replace or not?

Was out drivng the other day and I start hearing this aweful rattling noise coming from under the car. I pull over and notice the sound is coming from my drivers side cat. Limp it home and bang on the cat and it sounds like a bunch of rocks bouncing around. MRT can send me a new cat for $60 and I can have it welded up or should I just pull both out and weld in stright pipe? I know I will have to do something with my 02 sensors to avoid the check engine light.

Put you an off-road pipe on it. They come with bungs welded in for the o2 sensors. Your car will run like crap without them.

If you get rid of the cats (which isn't street legal in the US), you'll need to address the O2 sensors - either in the tune or with MILs.

I got an exhaust leak, this has been costing me money at local muffler shops and my gas mileage sucks. Got a 00 GT O/R H pipe with 40 series flowmasters, hollowed out catts. Lately i've been getting alot of exhaust fumes when i sit at idle, got an exhaust leak you can hear under hard acceleration or when i let off the gas. Any suggestions or ideas where this leak could be coming from? Muffler shops say they can fix but when i leave the shop usually with a lighter wallet i can still hear it, not to mention the fumes are pretty harsh.

Most shops have a warranty on their work! Take that s**t back and demand they fix it. If they didn't fix the original problem you came in with they are robbing you blind!
