Default For those of you with Paint Jobs

Just wondering if I could get some good tips on paint jobs. Cost, where I should go, what I should expect, things like that. I would love to have it Black.

I bought my stang (My first car) back in November of 2012, and I've had the idea in my head ever since, that I wanted to get it painted.

I wanted a Black one, although there were none for sale while I was in the market (Literally it was either dark shadow grey or silver, that's it).

That color is nice and the paint still looks good however if you want it painted you get what you pay for. Black is the hardest color to paint because it shows every little imperfection. The smallest sand scratch etc will become noticeable. In other words find a reputable shop with some real nice cars out front and fork out the dough if you want it to look nice. A full repaint, to include jams will probably be expensive.

I've googled it, a good paint job will run 4k-6k. Don't know how reputable that mark is, but when the local shop around here wants to charge me 600.00 just to reskin and repaint my door, it doesn't surprise me.

Thanks for the replies guys. I appreciate it. The answers I've gotten are definitely a lot different than what I expected.

Perhaps changing up my wheels could spark something better.

Looks DSG, you can definitely make a DSG mustang look good, start with wheels and a drop and see if you like it

You are probably looking at 3k+ for a decent quality paint job. They have to take your car completely apart to take care of the door jams, trunk, underhood area, etc.

A good paintjob from a reputable shop will run you a hefty 7-9K for everything

Its all about who you know, I paid 1k for my paintjob, and it has 3k worth of clear coat on it............do the math hahahah. But realistically around 4k for a good color change.
