I'm surprised he didn't notice the gear change right away. That's a pretty significant change from 3.27 to 4.10
The last gear swap I did was a 3.55 to 4.56 in my 4 X 4 Dakota.
And I noticed one heck of a difference right away.
Acceleration from a dead stop was much better. And it netted .5 in the 1/4 (not a drag racer but I still ran it to get the times).
I towed beyond the tow rating which is why I did the swap.
And I abused the heck out of the truck for years. No break in period.
My bro in law has been driving the truck for the last few years now. Still working great.
I did spend a lot of time getting the gears in just right though.
I wonder if I still have pix uploaded somewhere...
Yup. I do.
Look at the difference in that pinion gear!
The 4.56 has such a tiny diameter. HE HE
It took a lot of work to get those gears set up good. But it lasted.
Now that I have the '96 Mustang GT 5 speed I feel like the stock gears are fine to me. I couldn't imagine having real low gears with a 5 speed manual.
I can already leave from a dead stop in 2nd gear when I want to.

Go rip it. No break in time required for a gear install, especially if they were installed correctly!!! I know I didn't break mine in -- My mechanic told me it was a bunch of crap! Do new cars have to break in gears? Nope!

Picked up my car today after getting ford racing 4.10's installed. I have to say, I don't feel them. To me it feels like I have he same 3.27's gears still but he rpms just go up faster. The car doesn't FEEL faster at all....I dunno maybe I'm crazy. Should the difference be obvious from 3.27's? I also had them install a new ford racing Aluminum driveshaft as well. Im going to go through a radar trap and verify that my speedo matches the radar speed ..
