Default Picked up a 2000 GT, now Restoring it to Factory.

So 2 weeks ago I picked up this 2000 GT Vert... backstory below

It has a 105,000 on the clock, 5 speed manual, all new tires fresh Inspection and emissions.

Seems to run good, drive good... Clutch lets out a little on the high side compared to my 13, but it is a 13 year old car.

Previous owner did the stripes and swamped the GT badges on the fender for 35h badges (kind of irks me, so I can change them back)

Has BBK CAI and 70mm Throttle body. Interior is in really condition considering its age (all leather) the 4.6 starts up with no issue. has a targa bar installed.

I decided after seeing the hackjob previous owner, a 45 year old man did to this thing... I fixed all broken interior parts and started removing stripes, now it is for repaint.

Pics below cover from day I first saw it online to where it is as of 05/30/2013

Nice! I woder what gauges he put in that pillar cluster if CAI And tb are the only engine mods. Going with original color on the repaint?

Yes on the original color. The 99-04 silver was a great paint color. My 2000 GT Coupe and my 2004 GT coupe were both Silver.

I am also looking to get rid of the wheels on this thing, maybe a swap for Factory rims. I don't like these black ones they have on their.

Ordering a new hood for it too. I am not a fan of hood pins on factory engines with a CAI and TB. I doubt the hood will blow off when this thing hits 1/4 mile top speed which takes 15 seconds.

The gauge cluster on the pillar isn't connected, they installed it, originally going to put an S/C in it, but changed their minds, because they threw away the original pillar panel I got stuck with it. Anyone who wants to swap a pillar cover can take that off my hands as well.

I noticed AM is having a sale on tops so I will get the new top from AM.

I will probably have Maaco reshoot the car, and since this was a Special Edition vert I am trying to find the right stripe package they put on those S/E Gt's in 2000

I know it is stupid to restore a 2000, but this will be my first vert, and my favorite mustangs of all that I owned, aside from my 88LX 5.0 (first) and Poppa Smurf (my current 2013 GB) My 2000 GT was my baby.

i like the way the hood is striped with the silver, but it would look 10x better if it didnt have the fading T stripes on the sides in my opinion
