Default clutch not disengaging

when the car is on I can not engage any gears once I turn it off engages no problem... I got someone to press the clutch pedal while I see if the cable pulls the fork and it does moves it a fair amount... So I was wondering, this means that my TOB is gone or the clutch is no longer functional??
any ideas please let me know
Thanks

Time to just take it apart if you can, drop the trans. The fact that you can't drive the car and can't slip into gears, so may as well make it worth your while.

How much free play does the pedal have? It should be 1 to 1-3/8"...

The first thing to do then is to adjust the cable. Here is how to do that if you have the stock quadrant/pawl. If you have an after market quadrant then there will be a firewall adjuster or adjustable cable, or both, you need to loosen the cable until the pedal has 1 to 1-3/8" free play.

If the cable is too tight it can cause the TOB to be pressed into the clutch spring so tightly that some torque is transmitted, turning the tranny mainshaft and making shifting difficult.
