My 99 GT is making the oddest noise from the engine bay. It's like a clicking/tapping sound. It's not a knock, it's click click click noise.. It almost sounds like a bad water pump.. And when I give it throttle the noise continues but in like a faster revolution or something. I'm not sure if its the timing chain?

Oddest part, the noise only happens when the car is warm and has been running for a good 30 or mins. No check engine light, nothing. Sometimes if I continue to drive the car for a long period of time through the noise I hear the clicking noise plus some sort of squeaking from a belt or something?

There's no like performance loss or anything during this noise either. Car drives the same... It's so strange..

If it was me the first thing I would do is remove the belt and start the car after it has warmed up and making the noise. Running it briefly (as not to overheat the car) would show you if the noise is in the accessories or in the engine. If it is in the accessories then you can spin each one by hand and listen for abnormal noise.

How many miles on the car, when was the oil last changed, what weight oil was used--synthetic or dino?

It's 138k miles. It's definitely burning oil. When it idles grayish blue smoke comes out. And sometimes after being stopped at a light, when I start rolling out of the light it leaves a big cloud of smoke.

Forgot what type of oil I used, but I'm almost positive it most certainly needs thicker oil.
