Crazy trade in value
This rant is I'm sure a little one sided so bare with me. I went to look at trading my 2004 Mustang gt redfire 5 speed w/ 79k miles in today. I owe 4 grand on it and looked like it booked out at around 7-7,500 trade in, so I figured I had equity towards the car I was looking at. Well boy was I wrong the salesman looked up autotraders trade in value and its "blind appraisal" was 5,600 dollars so he said let my guy check it out and kick the tires. Well he came back to me with a value on my car of 4,500 dollars??? Understand my car is 10-11 years old so the paint isn't perfect but the car has no damage and is in perfect running condition. And has over 3 grand worth of rims, gears , bolt ons etc...... I was so pissed off I yelled at the guy. I know you guys will tell me to sale it private party, but it's my only car so selling it would leave me stranded. Just wanted to get you guys take.

On a trade thats about what to expect, they don't give a crap about what parts you put on the car. Kelley blue book value isn't going to be anywhere near real trade in value 7-7500 is about what you would get if you sold it yourself

I'm in Florida the dealers always starts out high down here. In a 100 mile radius there are 11 V8 mustangs 2 cobras, 1 roush rest are gt's and the cheapest is 8,000 dollars and it has 164,000 miles on it .....So if a dealer bought mine for 4,500 and put a few hundred in parts and inspection and sold it for 8 grand they would still make almost 3 grand plus interest. I'm not dumb.

I'm in Deland Florida. Most of the Mustangs are either in Miami or Georgia. Had to go to Coconut Creek to buy this one which was over 200 miles away. I'm not asking for the World. If they can make money off my car then why can't I ? Every car that I've traded in before I've made money off of. I even made almost 2 grand off my F150 when gas was almost 5 bucks a gallon and the economy took a dump and trucks were worthless.
