Default Alternator Suggestions

I'm a firm believer that you get what you pay for. Still, a person doesn't have to spend a bazillion bucks on say, nitrogen filled shocks, if you're just gettin' groceries with your ride.

That said, I need an alternator. Mine shat the bed. I don't feel like dropping three hundred dollars on one if I can get a refurb that's just as good. Has anyone replaced theirs lately? If so, what did you swap in? I've found one for about a hundred bucks, but I'm leery about getting something potentially made in China out of used speaker wire and Elmer's glue.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have an alternator with like 500 miles on it. You will have to use your alternator pulley but beyond that it's in great shape. Paid 220$ for it 4-5 months ago. 80$ and it's yours.

assuming the brushes are bad..but most of the time its a faulty or shorted diode that bites the dust. Auto store brands can be hit or miss, but most work fine. If they die, just replace it for free with a new one. At least they arent hard to do on the mod motors.

Agreed.

Stop by a NAPA or AUTO ZONE pick up a 130amp unit for about $100 or less do it yourself then you get free replacements for life (As long as you still own the car)
