Default Starter Sounded Weird

After over 10 years of owning my '03 GT, I was noticing a strange sound lately while turning it over. I was looking at new Starters and found American Muscle seemed to have the best replacement. Well, I decided to get under and look to see how hard it will be to DIY it. Just thought since I was under there, I'd check for loose wires. I found the Solenoid connection was VERY, VERY loose. And it's never been touched since it left the factory. So, I tightened it up, and cranked it over and no strange noise! I hope that was the problem, but it is over 10 years old. Just writing this to let others know. Check the Starter connections first it may save you a lot of headaches, at least till the Starter really goes out. Of course, always disconnect the NEG Battery terminal before checking it out. Hope this saves someone some trouble out there.

I'm glad to see you got the problem fixed and it didn't cost you any money, that's always a plus! This will be good advice for anyone who is having a similar issue.

Please let me know if your Starter does go bad and if you need any assistance, feel free to ask! Our Mustang Experts are here Monday-Friday from 9AM-9PM EST and Saturdays from 9AM-5:30PM EST. If you want to hit them up, their number is 866.727.1266. I can also have one of them call you directly.

If by chance your starter does go ban, replace it with the PA Performance starter! Best one out there!!

Thank you for the input. I had the PA Starter set to order. Right now the Starter is working great. No noise and back to normal. You know the Nut is only suppose to be tightened to 45 inch lbs. I went a lot farther with it.
