Did I use the wrong fluid in my power steering pump??
Well, I got my power steering pump replaced and it works great, but now I'm worried because it looks like I used the wrong fluid. I was originally advised in another post that Dexron IV was correct, but when I got to the store all I saw was Dexron VI, so I just assumed VI was what the guy was talking about. But after looking at the manual, which recommends Mercon (of which Mercon V is current), and doing some checking, it seems that Mercon V is not compatible with Dexron VI, at least as far as transmissions go. So, do I need to drain all this out and use Mercon V???

My best guess is it's probably fine. It just uses the atf as a hydraulic fluid, so the difference between the friction modifiers found in Mercon vs. Mercon V or whatever shouldn't matter since it's not a transmission which would be sensitive to those differences.
All that said though, if it were me, just out of paranoid/ocd tendencies I would probably replace it with Mercon as specified.

You are fine. The label or Data sheet on the mfg website of the brand you bought will specify "supersedes previous Dexron/Mercon specifications" or something like that.
