I am considering running a brighter halogen style bulb on my car. I have HIDs at 8000k (blue) but I'm wondering if the regular halogen bulbs that are not stock but super duper more powerful are not that much worse.

I do remember the stock bulbs being like using a flashlight at night time.

What bulbs are you guys using? Stock housings?

8000k lights are putting out a lot less lumens in exchange for the silly blue color. I would suggest dropping down to 4-6k lights for improved light.

Also using HID bulbs inside of the regular housing without an HID projector is silly and dangerous to other drivers.

Ever since I switched to smoked housings my headlights are pretty much 100% useless at night time especially in the rain. In the rain I can turn my brights on and pretty much barely even tell headlights are on. I do not drive my car at night anymore its so bad.

I am about to order a kit to fabricate in some HID projectors and bulbs into my stock housing from The Retrofit Source. Either this or buying housings with projectors already in them is the only way to properly improve the lighting on 99-04 GTs unfortunately. My issue with all the housings that have projectors is how ricey they look. Minimum of 2 projectors and always look like euro style lights.

Buying "brighter" halogen bulbs barely makes a difference. Certainly not enough if you are smoked.
