Default Manifold starting to leak, need some input

Well it took 140k miles, but my intake has started to leak at the thermostat housing. So looking for some help: do I just spend the 215 bucks for the replacement, or make sure it never happens again and get the 500 professional products manifold? I do have to pass smog here in ca and do plan to supercharge.

...well, which supercharger were you going with, centrifugal or a twin screw/roots type that sits on the engine? Cuz the latter I think would simply have its own piece instead (in other words, supercharge nao!)

I went with the Ford Racing unit. I had to get the newer alternator bracket for mine but yours shouldn't require it I dont think eh

If you do go aftermarket, you can sell it should you get a supercharger that sits on top of the engine, or even if not you should gain a few horses with the higher flowing manifold but I think the stock replacement unit should be just fine for a while.

You should fix it sooner than later, before leaking coolant finds its way into other **** and ****s more **** up.

It's a centri (procharger). I will be buying soon. I took a closer look and it could just be the gaskets. The leak seems to be coming from the mating surfaces. Gonna have to bit the bullet and pull the manifold.

Just spend the cash and get the aftermarket unit, in the long run you might get a little bit of gain out of it with the blower.

Ended up going with a replacement plastic one. Mainly because of cost, and I won't pass commie CA smog with the aluminum piece.

Just a heads up on what you might be expecting when you replace the intake manifold:

I documented my experience when mine took a sh*t, pictures included. This will probably be worse than whatever yours is though as I waited longer than a week or two to order parts

Do you have a leak that draws coolant in the valley between the heads, or just by the thermostat housing?

The leaks are very small, just at the therm housing and then on the opposite side. My buddy took the manifold off, and it is indeed cracked, albeit very small, just enough for coolant to steam out. Issue on the other side is a gasket failure.

Also had a leak start at the coolant overflow tank at the spot where it joins with the lower rad hose. Most likely just gonna replace all the hoses and the overflow tank when the manifold arrives.
