Trouble shooting a no start
Well hello all my fellow stang enthusiasts...
It's been a few years since I've really been on here... unfortunately its also been about two years since I've started the mustang. It has been parked at my old mans house while I've been off with the Marine Corps, now I'm back home and go figure, it wont start.
It WAS in the garage when I left, but at some point my dad parked it outside in the driveway... in New England...
First, obviously, no crank. Bought a new battery, and now it cranks but doesn't fire up, like its getting no fuel... My first guess is to do some maintenance on the fuel side of things... Drain the tank of old gas, new fuel filter, maybe new injectors?
What do ya'll think is the best way to troubleshoot this from the top down? I used to really be up on maintenance and the mechanical inns and outs of this car, but to be honest, the past few years my mustang has been the furthest thing from my mind. I admittedly forgot quite a bit that I had taught myself...

Two years... the gas should still be OK, was the tank full? You may have condensation in the tank if it was 1/2 full or less.
Have you tried starting fluid? This will usually tell if the car is getting gas. You can take out one plug and smell it to see if it's getting gas. If you can start it on starting fluid, you might be able to get it to run well enough to empty the tank. I'd put some STP fuel system cleaner in the tank-this should help clean out any gunk. If it'll run on starting fluid, but will not stay running- I'd check the filter for dirt and rust.

chrome - just spray starting fluid on the throttle body yes?
on another note, the years and weather took its toll on my poor car in more ways than one... I wash wash/wax/polishing it where it stood idle and while cleaning the tires/rims I literally just tapped the air valve, and it shot off, tire deflated... old dried/cracked/rotted Nitto tires... chrome lip on the rims are pitted from weather too... looks like a big chunk of change just for tires let alone any starting issues...
*sigh* I forgot how expensive this car was lol

When you turn the key on is the theft light flashing rapidly?
Sometimes the PATS gets out of sync with the key after the battery is dead for a long time.
Try to resync the key by turning the key to run (not cranking) leave it in the run position for about 45 seconds or until the theft light slows down, or stops flashing. Turn ignition off, pull key wait 15 seconds, insert key turn to run. This should resync the key. You should then be able to start the car.
