Default Couple of probaby stupid questions

I am new to Mustangs, purchased a 2004 GT Convertible last month. I have a couple of probably stupid questions. What is meant by MODULAR? Why is this series of Mustangs called NEW EDGE? How do you tell difference between BASRE, DELUXE and PREMIUM? Thanks for your time.

Not sure about any of those myself except cheating and using the vin online and some sites can tell you.

The term "modular" had to do with assembly line setup and tooling, and how it could all be switched over to produce the various engines (4.6 and 5.4 in 2 and 4V configuration) in a short period of time. The common misconception is that "modular" implies interchageablity of components between the various engines.

Base model is a V6 car. Both "base" and "GT" models could be had in Deluxe or Premium trim packages. Premium included things such as leather upholstery, etc.

I don't think there is anything that would.

Trim codes along with other specifics are located on the certification label. This label is on the driver door jamb "B"Pillar.

New edge was the name used internally by Ford.

Im assuming it woukd be in the vin? Because if not i dont think ford would have a way to tell you which it is.

Go to www.etis.ford.com and click on "Vehicle". Enter your VIN and when you get the return expand the information on the right. It will tell you every option that was on your car when it left the factory and will also let you know of any service campaigns or recalls.
