Exclamation Rear End Whining while driving.

So I have a 2000 Mustang GT with many bolt ons, including 4.10 gears on the rear end. Now every time I accelerate and let off the gas, I can hear a loud whine coming from the back of the car. I am suspecting that the bearings are worn out but I'm not really sure. Can anyone help me if there is a problem or it's just me complaining?

How long ago did you get the 4.10's installed? It could also be bearings but I would guess that it is the gears first... unless they have been there for a long time and for sure aren't misaligned.

I am not too sure on when the gears have been installed. I bought the car about 2 years ago and the previous owner bought them and had it installed before. I personally think that they are like 5+ years old since other bolt ons on the car seem a bit old. I don't really know for sure, I'm just guessing.

Id start by popping the cover and looks for obviously problems, metal shavings, ring gear bolts backing out, etc

It's sitting in the garage this winter and wont be moving until next spring. But I will for sure will check it out. I just don't want to work on something that is not causing the problem and waste money. I just hope it is not something gone bad, I really hope it is the bearings since it's cheap to replace.

a high pitch whine is usually ring/pinion sound. bad bearings will rumble and grind and make a rotational noise. Sound could be from improper install
