Default Lincoln Mark VIII engine swap

I'm brand new to the 4.6 platform. I have a 1998 Mustang GT Auto. 140k miles, but runs well. I have access to a 1996 Lincoln Mark VIII. I could buy the entire car for $700. It has similar mileage and also runs well. Based on what I have read, this is the same engine used in Cobra. Is this a difficult swap? What hurdles would I face?

I recently did this swap and it is pretty straight forward. There is a good post somewhere around here that somebody made about what you'll need to make it happen.

The biggest hangup for me was trying to get the dohc to run on the factory GT ECU. What a dick dance that was. I must have farted around with that for almost a month because it sounded like it was sooo close to running right but never did. Once I pulled my head out of my *** and got it tuned, that's when a lot of problems I was dealing with went away.

It turned out to be the best mod I have ever done to the car. I love it.

Look over in the Motor Swaps subforum here, there is a very detailed thread on this very swap sitting near the top of the page.

I recently did the swap with a 97 Mark VIII to my 96 GT Vert and love it. No major issues if you follow all the swap threads posted on all the forums. I used my stock GT tune and runs good, but I'm sure a real tune will eventually make it much better. Better jump on the Mark you found. If you decide not to do the swap, you won't lose any money selling the motor and trans.

So I'm currently at the tail end of my swap and the car will idle for about 8 seconds and then lugs and dies. If I give it any gas it does as well. Any thoughts or suggestions??
