Transmission chatter at low RPMs
#2
Welcome.
Mileage/service history of the transmission? I'd try a transmission service-new fluid and filter.Beyond that,a 14 year old automatic with high miles or abuse probably needs an overhaul.Sounds like something is worn or not getting enough pressure.

I was having this problem with my automatic too and my transmission is only a couple years old, although admittedly, it hasn't necessarily been pampered in those two years.
I took a shot and pinned my hopes on a miracle in a bottle and bought a bottle of Lucas Automatic Transmission Conditioner and what a difference that made.
The shifts are more positive and there is no more low speed chattering or "searching" for a gear when you are driving on the cusp of where it would shift 3rd and OD.
